Moving on towards the bottom of Coromandel we landed at a campsite at Opoutere Beach.
Every time we are at a new site it’s take about 10 minutes to adjust to each new surroundings and learn where everything is. It’s been nice when we do 2 nights at a place. The kids seem to particularly like it because they can get the hang of each spot and meet some kids. The last 3 places were all for 2 nights and the pace slows down more.
This site had a nice vibe. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere; a forest with a clearing for camping. A trail through the woods brought us to the beach. It was a foggy evening so the beach was particularly haunting; one long strip, flanked by massive cliffs, with no one on it just massive pieces of driftwood. I may use the location for my next movie. After a quick swim we spent the rest of the evening playing the ukulele & cards and making daisy chains. I love slow evenings like this.

The camp is just north of Whangamata, a little surf town. Paula and Harry took a surf lesson (she’s so stink’ cute and brave) and we spent the rest of the day wandering the little town popping into shops and cafes. The boys got new jandals (please see Harry’s future post on Kiwi/English translations). We experienced the first rain shower since we’ve arrived in NZ, during which we whiled the time having wine and a snack.

Love it surfer girl!
