We drove down to the south area of Lake Taupo where we pulled into a gravel lot. We went inside and met our rafting instructor. Before we went out, we put on wet suits and helmets and jackets and boots. Then we took a bus to the drop off point. We carried the raft over to the water. We got on and learned basic controls: go and stop. Our first rapid was fun. It felt like a roller coaster, only wetter. The second rapid was also cool but not as rough. Paula and Luke didn’t want to paddle though. They were holding on for dear life. After a while we got cold so we had hot chocolate and chocolate fish. We learned that if you pour hot chocolate in the water you get chocolate fish! Then we went on a rapid where you had to duck. We took the bus back and got juice and cookies.
*Sorry, Lake Taupo
